Here you see Zac standing in front of the outrageously painted artwork, faithfully reproduced. This appears only on one side of the B-24, as did the original. This side was parked facing away from the small airport building, apparently to help appease some of the locals. But no one had anything to say that was not praise! (Note the stiff breeze - this never let up all afternoon)
In this photo I am standing near the tail, and you can see how far the paintjob extends down the side of the plane. This was actually taken after the flight and I am listing a little to starboard from some of the "ups and downs" of the roller coaster ride...
This is a really neat picture of the Dragon (from its "non-colorful" side), taken from the top turret of the B-17 "909" parked to its port side. It was unbelievably hot in the plexiglass bubble on top of the 909, making one think of how difficult it must have been to be in this position at 25,000 feet where its 40 below zero, with the sun blazing in your face while enemy fighters and flak try to knock you out of the sky...
