From Fred Riley, Group Historian:
This is the 456th Bomb Group American Military Cemetery Booklet. If you were to open up the booklet and lay it flat it would be 8.5"x 11", but of course this is for the web site and will not have to be folded so I will number the scans "CE1 - CE14, that is order of the pages.
It starts out with a photo of a grave in the Florence cemetery, then on the inside of the cover it gives a brief explanation of each cemetery, (the explanations in the pamphlet are continued on the inside and outside of the back cover, so I will put them in order so as not to interrupt the continuity.), its location and best way to visit it for those interested in a personal visit.
The pages listing those in the different cemeteries have a section on the right hand side (location) of the pages after the name, if there are letters and numbers such as D,10,20 that indicates the location in the cemetery of the person listed. That is the plot, site and the grave .
If nothing is shown there that indicates the person was not identified but his name appears on the wall of Honor in that cemetery. This may indicate that they were lost in the Adriatic Sea and/or the body was not recovered.
In some instances the plane crashed and it was known who was aboard and some of the bodies were not identifiable, in that case they were buried in Jefferson Barracks Missouri, primarily because it was centrally located in the USA making it more easily accessible to the families of the deceased.
Finally there is a section "456th Bomb Group Known Deceased Members", these are the members of the Association known to have died since the war up to 1 January 1997. I hope all of this is clear.
At that time we sent a pamphlet to each of the current Association members, but have not modified it since then.
