American Sound and Video Corp.

B-24's At War

This video consists of three original documentaries: The Mission, which features the 44th Bomb Group under Col. Leon Johnson in preparation for a typical mission, through its completion, in a comprehensive "true-to-life" account of a combat mission; and also Report From the Aleutians, covering the misery of the bomber groups flying from frozen and flooded bases in the far north islands of the Pacific. Last is The Battle of Dutch Harbor, featuring actual combat aerial footage. American Sound and Video Corp.

The B-24: Target Nazi Europe

The B-24: Target Japan

Part of the B-24 trilogy. In this video the use of the B-24 as a long range bomber in leapfrogging the Pacific islands is explained in original footage and clear documentary. It includes coverage of the Big Week, Operation Titanic, and scenes of remarkable engineering feats in the midst of war. Goldhil Video, 1997 Prime Cut Productions.

The Fighting Liberator

A 60 minute video, with some of the same footage as seen in other B-24 videos, but with a focus on the use of the Liberator as an all around workhorse for the Allies. From the Bismarck Sea to China to D-Day, every front and every use imaginable is covered. Released by Ferde Grofe Films, Aviation AV Library (no date)

Ploesti !  B-24 at War, Series 1

Famous low level raid and subsequent high level raids on the Ploesti oil refineries. Considerable actual footage and propaganda reels, including the one narrated by Ronald Reagan. Also features B-24's Get Back, detailing how damaged Liberators made it home. And B-24: The Forgotten Bomber, a PBS cable program "For Veterans Only." American Sound & Video Corp., 1990

Wing and a Prayer - The Saga of Utah Man

Perhaps one of the best documentaries on a B-24 pilot and his missions, including the low level raid on Ploesti. Poignant and riveting, this story from Lt Walter T. Stewart covers everything one might expect - and more. It features an interview with Jacob Smart, the original architect of the low level raid on Ploesti, and Roger Freeman, noted historian. This should be required viewing for all high school students. Spike Productions, Utah 1993
