456th Bomb Group
Group History: Aircraft, Page Six

These are two outstanding photographs of several B-24s in loose flight formation, furnished by David Abner. This shows the early markings used by the 456th Bomb Group. Note the diamond on the tail, carried on in later paint the identification scheme of the entire 304th Bomb Wing. The aircraft in the foreground was known as "Boojum." For more on the crew, click here; for more on the aircraft, click here. Also, see Abner's site for greater detail on this aircraft.

M/Sgt. Edwin L. McDonald, taken  3/26/45. There was apparently another ship named Lady Corrine after the first, more famous aircraft. This one was named "Lady Corinne II," as seen in the photo below, and arrived in Stornara late in the war.
